About the Role
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Conducting experiments with animal models of kidney and other diseases of interest to DAx: administering candidate therapeutics to experimental animals, making clinical observations, and harvesting samples for the evaluation of drug levels, histology, and molecular endpoints.
Independently implement and analyze ex-vivo bio-analysis on generated samples.
Work independently to design, execute and analyze high quality in vivo studies in line with project needs and timelines.
Support the development of new in vivo models and readouts for kidney diseases.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design studies that assess pharmacodynamics and efficacy of therapeutic candidates in preclinical models.
Independently design, execute, and analyze experiments, interpret data from different sources, draw relevant conclusions, and document and present data.
Identify problems and propose solutions, while contributing to report writing .
Work in compliance with the Novartis Code of Conduct and in accordance with Novartis guidelines on health and safety and data recording.
Essential Requirements:
B.S. or M.S. degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 4 years related laboratory experience in an academic or industrial drug discovery setting in an in vivo role. Please note that we do not require a PhD level candidate for this position at this time.
Knowledge and hands-on experience with in vivo rodent research, as well as certifications for carrying out animal experiments (LTK Module 1 or 2 or a different FELASA Cat. B, C accredited course).
Proficiency with in vivo procedures in rodents including multiple dose routes of administration, blood/tissue collection and necropsies.
Experience with biochemical assays (e.g. ELISA, qPCR, Western blotting etc.) and/or tissue culture/cell biology, plus experience in complex cellular models and/or ex vivo systems or explants.
Strong ability to multi-task and adapt to new procedures and projects.
Has curiosity and is able to identify complex problems and provide innovative solutions.
Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, attention to detail, flexibility, proactive willingness and desire to engage in the laboratory workflow.
Team oriented and collaborative work ethic.
Self-awareness and desire to develop your skills further.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, German desirable.
Desirable Characteristics:
Experience with rodent models of chronic kidney disease.
Experience in complex cellular models and/or ex vivo systems or explants.
